Complete Tourist

So I made it to Argentina. I honestly do not think I could look more like a tourist. Today I had my backpack on my front, the IES bag, and a map out looking completely lost. But i figure i should embrace it since I really had no clue where I was. I do feel a little overwhelmed with how big this city is.

My host family has been extremely nice. I did have my first culture shock with the bathroom. The toilet is in the shower. I also have to turn a knob to get cold water or to flush the toilet.

The rest of the house is so pretty. muy linda!

My host mom painted these and she has never taken an art lesson.

The kitchen is my favorite. I love the green decorations.

There is more - but it is time for my siesta. I want to sleep before dinner! Ciao

last night in America

Today is my last day in America. I also consider this to be my last day underage. Hooray for celebrating my 21st birthday abroad!
To celebrate my departure my family and I went out to dinner. Naturally I chose Indian cuisine for my last meal.
It is unfortunate I will not be spending the night in the comfort of my own home…somehow we are one of the only houses in the neighborhood to lose power. Rather than sleep in a house without heat, I have opted to spend the night at the Smoots.

The past couple of days I have been running errands for miscellaneous items abroad. I decided to buy maple syrup from L.L. Bean for my host family. Apparently they sell authentic maple syrup from Maine at L.L. Bean. I will be living with a mother and her 20-year-old daughter. The mother teaches English, which is quite the relief. They also have a cat, which should be an interesting change from Dunkin and Rocky.

My flight takes off at 10pm tomorrow night. It is an overnight flight so I will not arrive until Sunday morning. I honestly have no idea what to expect. It is extremely exciting and nerve racking. Well wish me luck on my endeavors! Hopefully next time I blog I will have actual news to report.
